This application makes studying vocab for the GRE (ETS’s Graduate Record Exam) fun, or at least a little bit less painful.
Our app features 700 words – and each word comes with a definition, a sententence example or two, and a mnemonic (a memory aid which may be in the form of a silly rhyme, a dirty limerick, or something to picture in your mind to remember the word).
The app also features a ‘New Random Set’ button so you can quiz yourself on 10 words at a time, and you can also check off the words you have already learned so they no longer appear in the quizzes. A cumulative statistic for your learned words is also given so you may monitor your progress as you get ready for this monster of an exam.
We use a bit of humour, and present both the sentence examples in the context of the university student so there are references to sex, alcohol, parties, boring classes, quirky professors, cookies, pizza, zombies, studying hard, the need for coffee, and living the life of a grad student.
Warnings and disclaimers: This app contains ADULT references and ADULT language! We’ve had to put some little stars in some of these words to keep the rating reasonable. If you are offended or might be upset by that sort of thing, then this is probably not the study app for you. If, however, a little deviance is your style, we have done our best to accommodate, because we think a little deviance is fun and definitely memorable – and MEMORABLE is the key idea here when it comes to learning vocab.
